Special Note - Jaguar XK Engines ( 2.4, 3.4, 3.8, 4.2 - 6 cylinder ) with the original inlet manifold
The Jaguar XK with the original inlet manifold appears to be very sensitive to cylinder compression test pressures.
The design having a common inlet area for all cylinders means the fuel / air mixture distribution within the manifold can be particularly affected by the compression pressures within each cylinder.
Low or uneven pressures across cylinders can lead to poor idle quality or in the worst cases poor running caused by poor distribution within the inlet manifold.
When measured “ dry “ a good condition engine should have cylinder pressures of around 150 to 160 psi and no issues are normally encountered.
Engines with less than 140 / 145 psi typically can suffer from degraded idle quality.
Engines with less than 130 / 135 psi appear to commonly suffer from poor idle quality and overall driving performance.
Pressure variations across cylinders can also cause these issues even if the majority of cylinders show good readings.
Any issues are normally a combination of this original Jaguar inlet system design and the overall condition of the engine rather than a problem with the EFI conversion.
An EFI conversion will improve a good engine but it will not fix a worn engine !
Engines with a non standard inlet manifold having separate inlet runners for each cylinder, such as Weber, seem not to suffer as much from these issues or at least are better at masking the issues.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATING TO THE RETURN OF COMPLETE FUEL INJECTION VEHICLE KITS
The vehicle kits will normally be supplied with the ECU pre loaded with an initial start file.
This initial start file is simply provided as an aid for
engine starting, it should not be considered a suitable final
calibration for your engine.
You must be prepared to undertake further ECU calibration work to ensure the ECU files are tailored to your vehicle.
Failure to successfully complete the calibration process may lead to poor vehicle driveability or even damage to your engine.
Our Classic Fuel Injection Kits are custom built to order and to the
customer general specification and as such are exempt from automatic
return rights under Consumer Contract regulations.
By ordering this
conversion kit you understand that further ECU calibration work will be
required and the final results are outside of our control.
We cannot accept returns or claims arising from failure to successfully complete the calibration process.
